UL Solutions sets the modernization standard

Discover how UL Solutions partnered with Siemens to transform its headquarters into a model for human-centric autonomous buildings, leveraging Building X to improve visibility, enhance efficiency, and create a scalable roadmap for modernization.

A blueprint for smarter building operations

When UL Solutions assessed its Northbrook, IL headquarters using its own SPIRE™ Smart Buildings Assessment, it uncovered a clear opportunity to modernize. The company chose Siemens to transform the campus into a more intelligent, efficient, and autonomous environment — integrating building automation, fire and life safety, energy management, and Building X into a scalable modernization framework.

The result is a blueprint for improving operational visibility, occupant experience, sustainability, and portfolio readiness.

Bringing building technologies together

UL Solutions needed a comprehensive building automation strategy to support 900,000 square feet of labs, offices, and common areas serving 1,500 employees across 16 buildings and 114 acres.

After a competitive RFP process, the company selected Siemens Smart Infrastructure to help transform its headquarters campus. A key differentiator was Siemens' comprehensive portfolio of smart building technologies—including Building Management Systems (BMS), energy management, IoT, and fire and life safety solutions. Together, these capabilities provided an integrated approach to addressing the campus's modernization goals.

Take a closer look at the technologies driving campus transformation.

Modernize with a trusted technology partner
